Background
Edward T. Kwiatkowski, CPA.
I began college at Monmouth University in September of 2007 while maintaining a full-time position at a local Dunkin’ Donuts as assist manager. I double majored at Monmouth University’s Leon Hess Business School in both Accounting and Business Management. The well-rounded background I gained at Monmouth University strengthened my business ethics and knowledge. The time I spent there taking various business and accounting classes such as entrepreneurial management, business ethics and managerial classes taught me some of the most important lessons that still resound with me today in day to day business interactions. I graduated quickly, taking on a full and overtime class load through the summers. This allowed me to complete roughly five years of schooling in only 3 ½ years (with 150 credits) allowing me to sit for the CPA Examination right out of college.
Upon graduation, I continued to work at the local Dunkin’ until I obtained my first professional job at a property management firm that handled CIRA’s (Common Area Interest Realty Associations) such as Homeowners, Condominium Associations, and Cooperatives. It was at this company where my hands-on accounting knowledge was fine-tuned, and I quickly rose to become the company Controller. I met with Board Members, Financial Advisors, presenting budgets and working closely with them for cash flow purposes. I decided to leave corporate accounting and this company to pursue a career in public accounting in January of 2015.
In January of 2015, I began working as a Senior Accountant at a public accounting firm with three CPA partners. One partner had over 30 years of experience in financial reporting (audits, reviews, and compilations) CIRAs and other non-profit corporations. Considering my background in the CIRA industry as a Controller, I continued to grow my knowledge in all aspects of the CIRA industry while working on audits at this firm, preparing approximately 400 audits during my time there. I also had some exposure to other for-profit industries via financial preparation and tax work. Unlike working at a larger CPA firm, working at a smaller firm allowed me to see the entire process from start to finish. Overall, the five years there allowed me to soak up a lot of knowledge.
It was then in December of 2019, that I decided to pursue my own venture, creating my own accounting practice specializing in CIRAs. However, I also provide business and individual consulting, financial preparation and tax preparation. I fully comply with all laws allowing me to perform the various services described in the Services tab.
Ed’s attention to detail made our CIRAs tax filing smooth and stress-free. Highly recommend his expertise.
